AMAZING EPIC STUDENTS: PART II

* On the day that Jenner was born, the Earth got hotter, causing Global Warming.
* When Bob and Janna bought Jenner his first computer. It is written that Helen Keller regained her sight and hearing while it booted up.
* Jenner was born with a hard drive in his liver. Doctors tried to remove it once in severe and intense surgery. But failed.
* On the day that Jenner was born, the angels with Jesus got together & decided to make a dream come true.
*On this day the sixteen years ago the world got smarter.
*When Jenner got to grade school, his teacher gave him his first computer assignment, he did it, the proceeded to hack the NASA Treasury.
*At the age of 2 months Jenner could easily disassemble and reassemble a 64-bit TTL Microprocessor.... blindfolded, candcuffed and underwaterWhat is Candcuffed you ask? a typo? NO!! It is a more vigorous and strenuous form of handcuffing, involving tin cans, pipe and drape.
... The heavens sang and smiled as baby Jenner breathed his first glorious breathe. Soon after the Megabyte was invented...

FALL IN @ EPIC
At EPIC we are looking forward to a great FALL 2008 Filled with a variety of opportunities for Students to Fall in Love, Fall into Service, and Fall into the Body of Jesus Christ. This fall we are challenging students to BE the people God has called them to be, to LOVE like God loves people and to SERVE as Jesus served. When you look at all these things the result is revolutionary change of epic proportions. For the first time in SDFA HISTORY we are offering a Girls All Access EVENT in Anaheim California. Vogue (of Epic's Girls Ministry) is teaming up with the people at Revolve to minister to the Girls of this Generation. Look for more information on our Girls Blog for more information!
Our Small Groups will be focusing on the theme's from Francis Chan's new book "Crazy Love" which talks about God's Love being absolutly revolutionary and contradictory to the world. The message of the book points back to God's own message, that change comes through people who are completely devoted to Jesus. Students will be challenged to LOVE God a whole lot differently!
September through November we will be focusing on a series called INNOVATE that teaches on God's process of making normal things extraordinary! Messages will provide teaching on gifts of the spirit, the mission of God's people in the world, and the desire to give God excellence in all we do!
Youth Convention is going to be amazing as well with preformances by SWITCHFOOT, and speaking by Francis Chan, San Diego is going to truley feel the presence of 10,000 teenagers who are calling on God to change their world. That is all for now. Looking forward to and EPIC Fall!

IMPORTANT GREAT ESCAPE SUMMER CAMP INFO!

You have committed to going to THE GREAT ESCAPE... now what? The mystery and suspense are killing you and you
are worried because you do not know what to expect. Chill... because this what relaxation is all about... let yourself
relax and be stress free!
What should I bring?
Keep in mind this is for a week...
It is hilarious that so many students either bring enough for a day or a month, be practical! If you are missing any items
or need to borrow something, please let us know before we depart!
- Spiritual Stuff: Bible, journal, pencil/pen, your ipod/cd player (at your own risk) with the provided play list
- Sleeping Stuff: Sleeping bag, foam or air mattress, pillow, extra blanket, your favorite teddy bear...
- Living Stuff: Your clothes, toiletries, necessities, a good pair of walking shoes/sneakers, flip flops for shower, appropriate bathing suit, towels for showering and swimming, and a sweatshirt for chilly nights.
- Survival Stuff: Sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, bug repellent, chap stick, camping stuff like a flashlight (with extra batteries) or lantern, your favorite snackies, spending money, money for food (we will provide one meal a day plus some “on the go” type food).
- Anything illegal, valuable, offensive, explosive, destructive, rude, or harmful. If you need guidance on the appropriateness of an item, consult your parents or our leadership team. We will do bag checks if necessary.
- How do I get in touch with my student?
- We will allow cell phones for this trip, but we ask that if it is not insured or super valuable to leave it at home. Parents can call our leadership team if needed. Ryan Smith’s cell: 619.201.1168 Ashley Smith’s cell: 619.201.1407
- LUGGAGE MANAGEMENT!
Do you think that you could bring any big bags, heavy items, sleeping bags, etc. to the church BEFORE Wednesday?
The reasoning behind this would be to make things easier (not harder) for your departure on Wednesday.
An example of how I would pack if I were a student would be:
-I would label ALL my luggage!
-A large suitcase with all clothing, sweatshirts, shoes, etc. that I would not need on Tuesday or Wednesday to be dropped off at church ahead of time.
-My air mattress, sleeping bag, & tent (if I had one) would be dropped off at church ahead of time.
-I would pack a smaller bag (like a backpack) with my essentials (like toiletries and change of clothes) and bring it with me Wednesday morning to ride with me in the van.
We will be departing at 10:00am on Wednesday (7/30) morning and arriving back in San Diego at 10:00pm on Monday (8/4) Night. Please be flexible, as these times are subject to change!
Upon the departure of each student, we will provide a detailed itinerary to all parents/guardians outlining the trip!
